Overview

Keenan has an exciting career opportunity for a Staff Accountant in our Torrance office. The Staff Accountant assists the Accounting Manager, and Assistant Controller with various general accounting transactions. The Staff Accountant is also responsible for maintaining financial records, reports, and performing account reconciliations. The Staff Accountant will assist with the accurate and timely reporting of Keenan and the Keenan Region’s consolidated financial statements.

 

Keenan, an Accretive company, is an insurance brokerage and consulting firm meeting the insurance needs of hospitals, public entities and California school districts. Keenan specializes in providing consulting services in the areas of: employee benefits, workers' compensation, loss control, financial, and property & liability.

What You'll Do

  • Monitor and review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations for Keenan, and acquired agencies.
  • Review of Agency Bill and Direct Bill Aging report and follow up with the team, producers, and carriers as needed.
  • Assist with monthly review of Agency Bill and Direct Bill collection notes on the Aging reports.
  • Perform monthly revenue comparison and YTD revenue comparison.
  • Assist with the review and preparation of the monthly reporting package prior to submission for Assistant Controller and Controller’s review.
  • Assist in the preparation of journal entries and review as needed related to adjustments and corrections.
  • Help with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for Parent Company as needed.

  • Top 50 Client Report and Tracking
  • Assist with processing Surplus Lines Tax Filing and requesting monthly payment
  • Assist with Agency Bill and Direct Bill daily billing transactions as needed (setting up client/policies, and invoices/receivables) in Sagitta.
  • Help with the preparation of requested information / analyses for Upper Management as needed.
  • Assist with the preparation of the quarterly book of business and the annual P&C book of business for completeness and accuracy.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of the production credit calculation for sales bonus.
  • Assist with the communication with internal and external auditors as required.
  • Ability to multi-task. Adequate planning required to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to coordinate with other team members to ensure monthly, quarterly reporting is completed within the required timeframe.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need

  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting related experience required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (or related field of study) required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required, including knowledge of V-Lookup and Pivot Tables.
  • Proficiency with MS PowerPoint and Outlook a plus. Experience with a G/L or Accounting package is also a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation:

 

The target salary range for this position is $65,000.00 to $75,000.00 (US Dollar) annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location. Remote work environment flexibility.
